Lizards for Sale | Sydney NSW

Pet Lizards Available in Australia

Australia is home to a wide range of reptiles and pet lizards. All lizards for sale in Australia must be captive-bred and legally approved for private keeping to ensure better health outcomes and reduce pressure on wild populations.

When browsing lizards for sale, availability can vary depending on licensing requirements and the keeper's experience level. At Kellyville Pets, we’re one of a dozen pet shops that have an Animal Dealer licence to sell native reptiles, meaning we stock most lizard species permitted on that licence.

Buying Lizards in Sydney and NSW

If you’re searching for lizards for sale in NSW,  there are specific regulations to follow as reptile ownership requires a valid licence before purchase.

Kellyville Pets supports Sydney and NSW customers by ensuring all reptile lizards for sale meet state regulations and are transferred only to licensed keepers.

Our team is familiar with local requirements and can guide you through what to organise before buying.

Lizard Care, Housing, and Environment

All pet lizards for sale have different needs, so caring for them involves creating a stable, species-appropriate environment. Enclosures must be sized to allow natural movement and behaviours while being secure enough to prevent sneaky escapes.

Heating and UVB lighting are also essential for temperature regulation, digestion and overall health. A proper diet, clean water and a habitat that supports climbing, hiding or basking are all parts of responsible ownership.

Choosing the Right Lizard for Your Lifestyle

Not every lizard for sale suits every household. Factors such as space, daily care time, experience level and long-term commitment all matter when choosing a lizard.

All the lizard species we have are suitable for beginners, although some species require more frequent interaction, and others are less tolerant of handling.

At Kellyville Pets, we believe in choosing the right pet for your lifestyle, so our team is available to help match you with the lizard that aligns with your routine and goals.

FAQ

Do I need a licence to own a lizard in NSW?

Yes, in NSW, you must hold the appropriate reptile keeper licence before purchasing any lizards. Licences are issued by relevant state authorities and must be approved before sale. NSW licence applications may take up to 28 days to be approved. Customers can place a deposit on a reptile once they have applied, and we will hold it (for a fee) until their licence is approved. After approval, the animal will be transferred to their name.

Are pet lizards easy to care for?

Care requirements vary. While some lizards for sale are suitable for beginners, all reptiles require daily checks, correct heating and lighting conditions and ongoing maintenance.

Can lizards be kept as pets indoors?

Yes, many lizards are housed indoors, provided their enclosure maintains correct temperatures, lighting and ventilation.

What should I buy before bringing a lizard home?

Before choosing from our lizards for sale, ensure you have an enclosure, heating, correct UVB lighting, appropriate food, and a valid licence.
