Cocker Spaniel Temperament:
Cocker Spaniels are known to be a happy, loyal and sociable breed. The Cocker Spaniel is an intelligent dog and loves to be part of the action. They are a very affectionate, outgoing and playful breed, making them great for families with children and they generally get along well with other dogs, given they have been well socialised as a puppy. They are easy going and will be happy to participate in whatever you are doing, whether its playing fetch in the back yard or curling up to watch a movie - whatever love you give them, they will give it back two-fold!
Cocker Spaniel Grooming:
English Cocker Spaniels will generally suffice with a couple of brushes a week; as they are an average shedder, brushing with a deshedding brush is highly recommended. During the summer especially, a clip is recommended every 6-8 weeks. Like all dog breeds with floppy ears, English Cocker Spaniels need to have their ears properly dried after their bath, and regularly checked to avoid infections.
Cocker Spaniel Exercise Requirements:
English Cocker Spaniels have a moderate-high energy level, so will require a walk every 1-2 days. If they are well socialised and outgoing, it is also a good idea to take them to parks or other pet friendly areas, where they can interact with other dogs and people - being a very social breed, they can get a little stir crazy cooped up at home all the time.
