It is important to note the difference between black sunflower and grey striped sunflower. Black sunflower is cheap but very oily and nutritionally inferior to grey striped sunflower.
As a rule, use sunflower seeds as a treat and not a main component of your bird's diet. Can be used as an attractant for wild birds, but offer sparingly.
